Doctor Who will introduce its first-ever female Doctor this year, and it will do so on a brand new night.

BBC America has announced that Jodie Whittaker's take on the Doctor will debut Sunday, October 7.

Doctor Who Season 11 Cast

It will air at the same time as the series does in the U.K. while also airing in a primetime slot later that night.

BBC America has yet to confirm which times the new episodes will air, but it did confirm the title of Doctor Who Season 11 Episode 1.

That episode is called “The Woman Who Fell to Earth.”

But who will join this new take on the Doctor for these new adventures?

Bradley Walsh (Law & Order: UK) will appear as Graham, Tosin Cole (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Ryan, and Mandip Gill (Hollyoaks) as Yasmin.

Yes, that means the Doctor has three companions this time around, and we're just dying to see how this will all play out.

It makes sense to hold the series to October. The final few weeks of September are filled with premieres, and it's easy for shows to get lost in the shuffle.

It's also good to know that viewers can watch it at the same time as the U.K. if they wish. It means we can all tweet about it at the same time!

Whittaker's casting as the first-ever female Doctor was revealed in July 2017.

“I’m beyond excited to begin this epic journey - with Chris and with every Whovian on this planet. It’s more than an honor to play the Doctor.

"It means remembering everyone I used to be while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can’t wait,” Whittaker revealed in a press release last summer at the time of her casting.

Whittaker first appeared on the 2017 Christmas special of the sci-fi epic which found Peter Capaldi's Doctor regenerating into Whittaker's take on the character.

It's a great idea to switch things up for a show that's been on the air for so long. Whittaker is a perfect actress to take on the role.
