Emergence: ABC Shares First Nine Minutes of Allison Tolman Drama

Emergence, starring Allison Tolman is poised to be one of the most-talked-about new shows of the season.
ABC has shared the first nine minutes online, and we think it's fair to say that it's going to be filled with mysteries.
The series has had a long and winding road to the screen. It was initially in contention at NBC, but the Peacock network decided against giving it a series order.
ABC Studios produced the pilot and went straight to ABC when NBC decided against pressing forward with it.
Generally, when pilots move networks, there are significant changes, but it looks like Emergence will be staying mostly the same, giving hope that it's a high-quality series from the get-go.

More promising is that it landed on ABC's fall schedule, meaning the network probably bumped another series off the schedule entirely or delayed a launch.
Emergence follows a police chief who takes in a young girl she finds near the scene of a mysterious accident.
The child is struggling to remember what happened before the accident, and more importantly, what the heck is going on with her.

In the immediate aftermath, a man and woman arrive to claim they are her parents and that they want their daughter back.
But Tolman's police chief is skeptical of the story they are trying to get her to buy. Instead, she does some digging of her own and starts to realize they could be conspiring against the youngster.
Alexa Swinton, Owain Yeoman, Ashley Aufderheide, Robert Bailey Jr, Zabryna Guevara, Donald Faison, and Clancy Brown also star in the series.
Emergence is launching in the super-competitive 10/9c Tuesday time period, meaning it will face an uphill battle for success.
