The fire department is at Bert's. He is taken to the hospital. He asks to get the dog out. Sharon tells the firefighters they don't have a dog. Bert started the fire.

Marcel has a kid who needs a new liver/ There is a donor liver available but it is an adult liver. He will have to do some resizing.

Bert comes into the hospital and insists he's fine. The Chicago Fire team tells Sharon they got her back. Sharon tells Dr. Charles that Bert put an electric tea kettle on the stove, starting the fire. Marcle says the lungs are good and hopefully he escaped permanent damage. He needs Sharon to come with him to a meeting abotu the liver. Sharon tells Charles she didn't expect this.

Archer is not happy with all the med student rotations. The med students are all avoiding him. Maggie tells him there's a patient with a bad hydrochloric burn. No beds available in the burn unit.

The man has severe burns all over his skin. Maggie knows the nurse and says she was there last night but the nurse says the burn unit is short staffed. maggie sees blood on the floor. It is coming from the nurse, whose arm is bleeding but she insists she's fine.

Marcel has done a good job and gotten approval for the operation but some obnoxious doctor comes up to him and says he will ruin the liver and can explain that to someone else who was passed over.

Sully goes to see Dr. Washington. He says to RIpley he hopes he didn't wait too long. Sully thinks Ripley should go out with Asher. RIpley says she doesn't know his past and wouldn't find that attractive. Lynne shows up and tells him the same thing. Her water breaks just then. Ripley tells Sully you're not going anywhere, I"llt ake her down to Hannah.

Charles says Bert can stay as long as he needs. Sharon doesn't think Tara can take him with the toddler. The other kids are out of state. Charles says a friend of his does memory care for Cook County but Sharon isn't ready for this.

Jackie says Carl needs to replace the door frame and that's why she got injured. He's upset all the time because he lost his job. She says she has to get back to her patient.

Bad news: Colin has some sort of infection. Nothing is bothering him besides his toe. The father says he stubbed his toe a few weeks ago. The nail is ingrown and caused an infection. Marcel doesn't think this is a big deal. Antibiotics should kill the infection and then they can operate. The father asks him privately is he sure? If he doesn't get this liver he might die. Marcel says he will make sure Colin gets the liver.

Maggie consults Charles about Jackie and her injury. She says the story is not adding up and something fdeels off about her. SHe doesn't want to sound alarms unnecessarily but maybe she's being abused. Dr. Charles says he will come up wtih an exucse to check in with her.

Asher does an exam. Lynne wants Ripley to stay. This time her water has really broken. However she is not in labor yet. No dilation yet so she will give her steroids and magnesium. Lynne says she can't stay in the hospital because she has to take care of Sully.

Dr. Morris wants to use the liver. Marcel says he has an idea.

Jackie seems out of it when Charles asks her if she knows when the patient's wife is coming. She says she's fine but seems really out of it.

Maggie asks Charles what he thinks. He says she seems barely there, almost numb. Charles asks if she has other injuries. Possibly she's cutting herself. Maggie thinks that dioesn't make sense. Charles says the burn unit is brutal. Charles thinks Jackie is more likely to talk to a fellow nurse and friend than to him.

Naomi is staring at Archer. She asks about a patient . Maggie interrupts to say that Archer needs to see a patient in Treatment 5. He takes Naomi with him and wants her to intubate the patient. She's VERY nervous. She's tentative and his stats are going down. Archer kicks Naomi out of the room.

SHaron sees Naomi crying in the conference room. Naomi says she's okay. She isn't sure what happened. She knows what she's supposed to do but she doubts herself and worries about the patient and freezes. Archer kicked her out but he's right. She screws everything up. Sharon says the ED is a hard rotation. It would be okay.

Sharon confronts Archer. He says she froze up. It's not his fault she's falling to pieces. She tells him it's a teaching hospital, so their job is the nurture.

The burn patient's wife comes in.

Colin is screaming with apin. He needs his toe cleaned out.

Luaren is in a lot of pain and blood. She's in labor. They can't stop labor and need to remove the stitch. If they don't deliver now her uterus could rupture.

The patient's wife cries in Maggie's arms. He coded and is gone. Jackie is standing there frozen and disappears as Dr. Charles helps the woman sit down.

Maggie follows Jackie to the bathroom and sees a trail of blood. Jackie collapses and is bleeding terribly.

SUlly shows up and yells about not being informed. Ripley tells him to sit down, shut up, and hold Lynne's hand. There's a lot of blood making it hard for Hannah to see to remove the stitch.

Jackie is stable and Maggie tells Charles she is already talking about going to work. What do they do? Charles says it works better if they can get her to ask for help. Let the IV do its work first and then talk to her.

Sharon says there's a bed in the convalescent ward for Bert. She also almost collapses because she hasn't eaten today.

Lynne gives birth, but the baby is not breathing. Sully tries to comfort her while the doctors work on the infant. The baby begins crying. Lynne and Sully kiss. They are parents now.

Archer stands in the doorway and watched Naomi with a book. He asks her if she's gonna hide in here all day. She didn't think he wanted her on the floor. He tells her she's no use to him with her nose buried in a book. She tells him she's afraid she'll do something wrong.  Her parents took out loans and sacrficed so much for her to go to college. Archer says the inaction is the problem. Making mistakes is part of the territory and the doctors are here to make sure she doesn't kill anyone but she has to try to treat patients.

Marcel is still not giving up on Colin but his temp is still 100.3. Sharon tells him they're out of time and Morris is demanding they release the liver.

Jackie wants to get back to work. She says she's been run down. Maggie says Jackie was bleeding. She says she saw the other cuts. She thinks Jackie is cutting herself. Jackie says she's done talking. She accuses Maggie of putting Charles up to this. Charles tries to talk to to her about the difficulty of the burn unit. She calls him a condescending prick and says she's going. Charles says he's putting a psych hold on her. She tries to run away and the orderlies drag her away and she screams that Maggie can't do this to her.

Morris says that Marcel is wasting time. Morris says the facts are the facts. No one else has anything to say. Goodwin says it is Marcel's decision. Morris is angry.

Marcel tells Bill he made the call to release the liver. He says Colin wouldn't survive the surgery. Bill says you said you could save him. Macel says he thought he could.

The baby is okay. He's in the NICU but will be okay. Lynne leaves with Hannah and Sully says Hannah was incredible. He tells Ripley you're not that kid anymore and that stuff from the past doesn't matter. Ripley is a freaking superhero and Hannah should be so lucky as to have him.

Naomi consults Archer about a patient and asks him to show her a lumbar puncture.

Bert freaks out about being transferred. Sharon comes. He wants her to take him home.

Jackie is in a locked room curled up into a ball. Maggie comes to visit her. Jackie says she is so tired.

Sharon tells Daniel she's taking Bert home. He got scared and confused and she was the only one who could calm him down. Daniel says what about you? She'll get a caregiver. Daniel says this is not a long-term solution.

Ripley catches Hannah in the elevator.  He tells her she was great today and got fans for life. He tells her about his past. She likes him and doesn't care who he was then.

Colin asks Marcel if he's gonna die.  Bill wants to take him home before Marcel can answer.
