Summer just got a lot better looking as Jeffrey Dean Morgan joins the cast of Extant Season 2 as the male lead opposite series star, Halle Berry.

Morgan's last series role was in the period piece Magic City on Starz.

On Extant, Morgan will be playing a fearless, cop of the future named J.D. Richter. A roguish womanizer, Richter thought he had seen everything until Berry's Molly Woods came into his life. 

He's described as a free-wheeling, hard-drinking mercenary/bounty hunter who plays it reckless, mostly because he thinks he has nothing to lose. It's possible he'll come into contact with Molly in her hunt for her alien son who is, you know, kind of trying to put an end to the human race.

The series is going through a bit of an overhaul with its supporting cast and we can expect it to feel a bit different as Molly is on the hunt for her alien son, so it's probably a good time to add a bounty hunter into the mix. The search has a bit desperate!
