The Goldbergs, Black-ish, Two More Series Get Extra Episodes at ABC!

ABC is spreading some holiday cheer for fans of some of its comedies.

Black-ish has landed an order for two more installments, while The Goldbergs, Single Parents, and The Kids Are Alright will run for one more installment each.

The move means Black-ish Season 5 will span 24 episodes, while The Goldbergs Season 6, The Kids Are Alright Season 1 and Single Parents Season 1 will have 23 episodes each.

The move for all four shows is unsurprising, especially when you consider the fact that they've all turned in respectable ratings.

The Goldbergs is the higher-rated of the bunch and is currently averaging a 1.2 rating in live + same day ratings, becoming the fourth highest-rated scripted series on the network.

There's a spinoff on the way. It's called Schooled and will debut January 9 out of the parent series. ABC likely wants to have as many original episodes of The Goldbergs to lead into the new series as possible.

Black-ish has lost some steam this year and is currently averaging a 0.9 rating. With ratings down across the board, and the fact the show garners acclaim and awards love, ABC will want to keep it around.

Freshman entry The Kids Are Alright is a solid new addition to the Tuesday lineup out of The Conners, while Single Parents is holding up well out Modern Family on Wednesdays.

As for Fresh off the Boat and Speechless, ABC has not made a decision on both shows, but there's a good chance both will be saying goodbye for good in 2019.

Moving to Fridays has resulted in both shows collapsing in the ratings. However, it all depends on what ABC has planned for the night during the 2019-2020 TV season.
