Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 13 features a handful of doctors doing double or triple shifts during an ice storm.

The storm has resulted in a mass influx of homeless people, all of whom are at risk of freezing to death if they don't find a warm place to stay. Archer is not happy, but Sharon insists the homeless community needs to take shelter inside the hospital.

One patient, Felix, is an affable homeless guy who has bipolar disorder as well as frost-nipped toes. Maggie insists that Felix be moved to a bed in the entranceway despite Dr. Charles' reservations. Felix is soon discovered to have been stabbed.

Marcel uses OR 2.0 to operate, but the AI says Marcel is too tired to proceed, and this cannot be overridden. Marcel has to let OR 2.0 guide his resident to finish the procedure.

Meanwhile, Will has a patient who suffered severe injuries while trying to vent a gas stove in her home. The patient is the sole guardian to her young nephew, who already lost his parents in a car accident. Thus, Will is determined to save the woman. Grace initially says that her algorithm says this patient only has a 7% chance of survival, but when the little boy asks if his aunt will be okay, she changes her mind and joins Will for the procedure. However, when another surgeon rants that he didn't have enough blood for his cardiac procedure, Grace decides she made a mistake and should have focused on the data and on who was most likely to survive.

Elsewhere, Archer has to deliver a baby on his own when Asher gets caught in the storm, and Sean is eager to prove himself to his father.
