This Is Us Season 5 Episode 7 revolves around the relationships between fathers and children.

In the distant past, Jack's father gets drunk while Jack is playing a Little League game. Jack loses the game and his father blames him for it and tells him he's too much in his head. Jack can tell his dad is drunk and doesn't want him to drive. His dad makes Jack drive.

On the drive home, Jack's father goes on and on about how Jack sucks at baseball and about how he's driving until Jack finally snaps at him to shut up.

A generation later, Jack takes Kevin to football training camp. Kevin is nervous while Jack is excited because scouts from Penn State will be there. Kevin throws up and later tells Jack that all he has is football and Coach says he's stupid. Jack takes Kevin to the hotel bar and tells him how awful his own father was and how he vowed not to be like him but seems to be doing the same thing. Kevin thinks Jack is way better than his dad. Jack thinks Kevin will be better than him.

Finally, in the present, Kevin is about to do a big scene when Madison calls. She's in labor. Kevin decides he is leaving right now and drives off in a hurry, almost getting into several accidents. While rushing to get to the airport, he comes across a guy who has been hurt in an accident and stops to rescue him, but loses his wallet in the process.
