Galavant Finale Review: A Happy Ending But We Want More!

at .

I am so sad that this is the last installment of this fantastic season! Hats off to the Jester for his amazing opening number.

The recap song that opened Galavant Season 2 Episode 9 was one of the best vocal performances of the season, hands down.

Thank you very much. Here all week, unless I die. Thank you!

Jester

Finally, after all this time our hero and his love are back together again and it was as sweet as I hoped it would be. Speaking of Isabella, her speech to her people was impressive and really showed off her leadership skills that she has built over the course of this season.

She's the princess who didn't need saving, but it's still great to see her get her man.

Richard and Galavant strategize

The Madalena and Wormwood team up was really fun to watch. They both have sides that are evil and sides that are just plain delightful.

I just wish that Madalena would have found happiness with Gareth, but that gives us some hope for next season!

The best character growth this season has to King Richard. Like we saw in the opening of Galavant Season 2 Episode 10, Richard has spent his life surrounded by fake people who only really like him because they are too scared not to. Side note: young Gareth was spot on!

Will I ever become a hero? Will I wed the girl I love? Am I going to get to touch her boobs?

Young Richard

Richard teaming up with Galavant started off as funny, but that's where we really saw him shine. Toward the end of this season, we saw a stronger bond form between them as Galavant started to see Richard as his equal, and as a friend.

I don't think anyone would have thought at the start of this show that it would be Richard that would be the "One True King" in the end.

It was nice that they had all of the other characters react to that as well. He is no longer cry-baby Richard, he is a hero.

Galavant: Over the last months, I've watched you transform from a boob into a real man. And today you're going to transform into a warrior.
Richard: You said boob.

There were quite a few really funny moments. One of my favorites was Roberta heading off to the Island of Spinster, where they handed them a cat and some chocolate as they boarded the ship. Sign me up!

RIP Wormwood! Wormwood was the best new character this season. Even at his lowest, most evil and in this case, on his death bed, Wormwood never stopped being a wedding planner. We will miss him dearly!

It was good to see Sid finally get his forgiveness and save the day. Having all of the random Galavant Season 2 extras as his army was a nice touch.

Let's hope he gets a meatier story in the next season. Chef too. He didn't play much of a part this season but he stole every scene he was in.

Men and women of the second season, attack!

Sid

Shout out to Tad Cooper! He really is a dragon! We never had a doubt, Richard.

Everyone was able to get their happy ending but they left enough open to keep us wanting more! Madalena won't have the devilish Wormwood next season, but the dark lord that she goes to find is a fashion consultant! How fun will that be?

Let's hope that this isn't the last we will see of this awesome show and this super talented cast! Every single episode was great this year. If you missed any, you can watch Galavant online
