The Blacklist Season 3 Episode 15 Review: Drexel

Will Liz meet her mother before The Blacklist Season 3 finale?

With the way The Blacklist Season 3 Episode 15 ended, it seems as if Katarina Rostova has resurfaced and will soon be a prominent focus for the show and for Red.

But was that dark and foreboding painting of Liz standing over Red’s grave a threat? Just what is Katarina’s goal here?

Baby Options - The Blacklist

Truthfully, the most interesting parts of the episode came within the last 10 minutes.

It wasn’t a surprise that Red’s desire to find Drexel had an ulterior motive, and after Red received those documents on The Blacklist Season 3 Episode 14, I was pretty sure it would be Katarina-related.

Though, it was a bit of twist that Red, who is always one step ahead, wasn’t prepared to find out that the painting he was tracking was actually for him.

He definitely didn’t like the looks of it, but hey, all art is subjective.

But if it is indeed Katarina, what has she been up to this whole time? And why does she seem to not be so buddy-buddy with Red?

There’s a storied past between those two, and one that definitely contains the truth about Red’s relationship to Liz. I’m not sure Red wants to go digging back into that past.

And what would Katarina’s return mean for Liz? What would it mean for Liz and Red’s relationship now?

There’s certainly been some friction of late, but would there be an even greater divide if Katarina reveals some particular truth? There’s definitely some exciting possibilities, and I can only hope that we get some answers before the season has concluded.

It’s tragic in a way though, that Liz hoping to have a simple life and choosing to keep the baby (and presumably Tom) seems like a happy and plausible future for her. But I wouldn’t be surprised for things to come crashing down and get even more complicated and twisted.

In fact, it makes me wonder which of the regular characters might find themselves in the crosshairs next?

Tom managed to escape death, but just barely. But does that mean he’s safe?

Unfortunately, the rest of the episode wasn’t as exciting or interesting as those last moments of the hour. Sure, the concept of people spying on you and having a live stream through cameras and what not is creepy, but it’s not anything we haven’t seen before on other shows or movies.

Plus, the blacklister, while proficient at what he does with his specific art, just wasn’t that memorable.

This wasn’t a bad episode by any means, but I found myself coasting through it, simply waiting for things to pick up and get to what Red’s purpose was behind hunting the blacklister.

I'm keeping the baby.

People say youth is wasted on the young. I disagree. I believe wisdom is wasted on the old. All you can do is part with it.
