Scandal Season 6 Finale Review: Transfer of Power

at .  Updated at .

What the heck just happened?

That's about all I can muster after Scandal Season 6 Episode 15 and Scandal Season 6 Episode 16, in which Mama Pope showed her hand to our favorite characters.

A Big Risk - Scandal

You could tell her revenge plot had been in the works for quite some time, and that her calculating moves would all make sense in the end.

With Olivia in denial about how the whole thing played out, it was obvious there was going to be a lot of twists in the tale before the villain was finally taken down.

I was a fan of the way Mama Pope tried to let everyone know she was not the person in charge. She had a point. I mean, why would she be hanging around Washington D.C. if she orchestrated the entire plan?

Hanging around just to be caught is sloppy, but just like Rowan, she clearly had an ulterior motive. The Pope family drama has been something I've hated throughout the course of Scandal.

It was a good idea to bring Mama Pope back into the mix, but it would have been best to run this storyline on Scandal Season 5. We're miles away from Mama Pope's last appearance.

Yes, it was a thrilling twist to have her as the apparent final villain of the season, but did Olivia seriously think Maya would not try to carry out her wicked plan?

Come on, they are like two peas in a pod.

Surprising Changes - Scandal

This is Scandal, and the $hit always hits the fan.

I was floored by the revelation that Luna was involved in all of the drama. Seriously, this show has got to stop with these crazy twists. They shock me to the core.

Luna was full of sass, and I loved it. She knew she was in a good position, but she did not bank on being handled by Olivia and Jake. Those two are a force, and when they shoot, they don't miss.

Luna was out of her mind. I thought she was being nice when she said about the kids being on the stage, but it all made sense as soon as she was revealed to be the true mastermind.

Will Cyrus ever change?

I rolled my eyes as soon as I noticed Olivia was about to grill him for his part in all of it. He went to jail. You would think he would have done some more damage control to keep himself safe.

What the heck was Olivia thinking by telling him to stay? If he's going to go to those lengths to get his foot in the door, what will he do when he's back in the door?

Olivia really makes some mind-boggling decisions. For example, bringing B-613 back. That plot was one of the worst in the history of the series. If B-613 were never mentioned, the show would be better.

I know Olivia wants to run it and run it more ethically than the previous people, but something tells me the whole final season might be about pulling Olivia back from the brink. She's gone dark before, and I see that happening again with all of this power.

Earlier in the episode, I was so happy to see her not give a damn about the cameras and embrace Fitz, but will her boyfriend like the woman she has become?

What we're seeing now is a mashup of Olivia from Scandal Season 1 and Scandal Season 5. Will that be enough for her? What else will she add to her agenda for Season 7?

Quinn reeling in Abby to help reminded me of the good old times when all of these characters actually liked one another. It's crazy just how far Abby has fallen from grace. I did like Quinn confiding in Abby about the pregnancy.

These two were such close friends at one point, and that friendship became a casualty of their ever-changing lives. It sucks, but I'm so thankful we got to witness them getting finding their way back to being friends.

However, that pregnancy twist came out of nowhere, and it looked like it was going to be the thing that got Huck to explain his feelings to Quinn.

You all witness his reaction, right? He was so upset, and my heart broke for him. I just don't see anything between him and Quinn. With Charlie, the relationship is on strong foundations. I just see Quinn and Huck as platonic, and it would be upsetting to see their relationship explored.

I am so happy Abby is back gladiating. The character needed a change, and with her part in the big conspiracy being out there, I thought she would have been sent to jail. It will be interesting to see how the company performs minus, Olivia.

The two-hour finale was full of twists and turns. I loved it all. I was on the edge of my seat throughout, and I cannot wait to see where the show goes in Season 7.
