That was bad.

Suits Season 9 Episode 10 had a tough task. It had to wrap up several years worth of storylines in just over forty minutes, and everything felt rushed.

There was no time to take in any of the developments before we were on to the next extreme. It's a shame when such a grand show goes out with a whimper, but if there's one thing fans will remember about the series is how the writers gave in to fan service.

Donna and Harvey were poised to get married at one point, but tying the knot on Louis and Sheila's big day while Sheila was rushed off to the hospital to give birth felt like a stretch.

That wouldn't wash in real life.

Harvey's urgency to not take life for granted any longer resonated because of what happened with his mother, but there was a time and a place for that wedding to occur, and it wasn't that day.

Maybe the creative forces knew they were backed into a corner because there was no way Meghan Markle would return as Rachel. Could you imagine a world in which Rachel does not go to Donna's wedding?

The pace of it all felt off, and the dialogue was even worse. There should have been more of a build-up, maybe even a time jump to a couple of years down the line to them living and working in Seattle before tying the knot.

There's obviously a large chunk of the fanbase that waited years for Darvey to happen, so it's difficult not to feel like the wedding was thrown in there just to appease those fans.

Even the move to Seattle felt like it came out of the blue. Mike was talking about it one minute, and the next Harvey and Donna are making plans to leave their lives behind to start a new chapter somewhere else.

Harvey and Donna have been involved in some of the biggest battles in the firm, but it felt out of character for them to leave it behind on a whim.

Harvey: Donna, listen to me. I know you called Mike because you know I needed him. For a couple of hours, I wasn't thinking about the case or tomorrow or even how much I miss my mom. You gave me what I needed, but it's time for me to win this thing.
Donna: You know, I never told you how many times I thought about us being together over the years. I was usually nights like tonight where I didn't know if things were going to turn out okay, but I knew. It doesn't matter if it's Faye or Tanner or Hardman or Goliath, whoever it is, no one stands a chance against Harvey Specter, and that's the sexiest thing in the world.
Harvey: What are you saying?
Donna: I'm saying that we should go in there and earn you the best night sleep you ever had.

Then again, maybe the firm will be able to stay out of the headlines for all the wrong reasons with the new name.

Louis, Alex, Samantha, and Katrina all being named partners of the firm instills hope that the firm will be able to put these dark chapters behind them and kick start afresh.

The conclusion for the firm certainly left the door open to a future spinoff featuring those four, and maybe that would be an exciting watch.

Then again, given how all over the place the past couple of seasons have been, maybe the franchise should just call it quits with Pearson.

Louis finally got the keys to the kingdom, and his storyline felt like a natural conclusion for him.

If you watch Suits online, you know that Louis has been one of the most impulsive characters on all of television. He jumps to conclusions and jumps around yelling like he has ants in his pants.

But there was a different side to him on "One Last Con," and it was one that made some of the stupidity feel warranted.

Robert: What the fuck was that?
Louis: It was us doing what we had to.
Robert: Yeah, and that bullshit might work on everyone else, but it doesn't work on me.
Louis: Robert.
Robert: Damn it, Louis. You were supposed to be on their side.
Louis: Listen to me, I know how this looks, but you are going to have to trust us.
Robert: That's getting pretty hard to do. After that little stunt with Mike, Samantha's only move is to stop this thing, unless you can tell me...
Louis: No, she can't do that.
Robert: Well Louis, it sounds like you give a shit what we do after all, so fix this god damn thing, or I'm going to fix it myself.

It's almost as if he's grown up as the series progressed, and he looked at Harvey and Donna as parent figures -- at least in the office.

He was scared to death of the pair leaving him behind, but now that he's a father, he has a whole new outlook on life.

He feels like he's in a position to steer the firm in the right direction and take on a leadership role. In the past, he used power to get what he wanted, but it certainly appears that those days are behind him.

For that reason, the ending for Louis felt organic and not forced like some of the others.

Then there was Mike. Beyond coming up with the idea to con Faye, he didn't get much time to shine. He was mostly just lurking in scenes to throw in a sound bite here and there.

Faye: Good, you're here.
Harvey: And so are you, but not for long because I did what you asked and if you think you're going to weasel out.
Faye: I'm not weaseling out of anything, but you haven't done what I asked, at least not yet.
Harvey: What are you talking about?
Faye: Tomorrow morning, you're taking the stand against Samantha.
Harvey: What did you say?
Faye: I said you're taking the stand.
Harvey: Bullshit I am.

It was almost like Aaron Korsh was like, "Patrick, you got your ending two seasons ago. The others are first!"

On top of that, there was nothing about Rachel or Jessica. It would have been the icing on the cake to have Harvey chat with Jessica on the phone one last time.

Harvey looking around his office as he gets ready to move on would have been so much more powerful with some words of wisdom from his old boss and friend.

The montage at the end that featured some of the best moments was a real gut punch, but it felt like the only way to include MegMar into things, so that's probably why it happened in the first place.

There should have been more Alex, Katrina, and Samantha. The last time I checked the actors were series regulars, so they deserved to get some meaty storylines to work with in these final episodes.

For a show that was once one of the best on cable, it's a shame to see Suits say goodbye with such a dismal finale. It's hard to imagine anyone clamoring for its return after that.

Pulling off a series finale is no easy task, but when you travel the route of fan service, then you play a risky game of becoming too predictable.
