Recap

Davy is alive, and his body is perfect, but his brain is damaged beyond repair. He’ll never think, speak, or move ever again.

Sugar gets dressed and almost packs his gun, but he can’t take it with him. He’s waiting for a call from Charlie about Stallings. He feels like it’s going to be a big day.

Stalling’s girlfriend feeds the dogs, but they run out to see Stallings before they eat. They chase a man back into the truck, but Stallings just leaves him there and calls the dogs away.

Charlie has eyes on Stallings. Sugar tells Ruby what he’s up to, and she warns him away.

Sugar is a dog whisperer and becomes pals with Stallings’s dog and proceeds to the house.

He’s walking around the house and spots the padlocked door. But he hears someone crying and goes into the other room. It looks like Stallings’s girlfriend. Yep. It is. And someone has pulled up to the van, too. Stallings starts beating Sugar. Sugar tries to talk his way out of this situation. As Stallings says, he’s a pretty convincingly strange guy.

Stallings cannot understand how Sugar can say he will kill them al in this position. But then Sugar proceeds to do just that, but shoots Stallings in the knee. It’s almost otherworldly. Girlfriend stabs Sugar, and he kills her and then painfully wounds Stallings some more. Someone with a number Sugar recognizes warned Stallings Sugar was coming. There are black and white visions of someone with HATE written on their fingers. A movie?

Inside the locked room are a bunch of dogs. It’s not Olivia at all. He lets one of the dogs go. A friend comes home, and Sugar asks for his phone. Charlie’s phone is dead, so he calls Melanie.

He knows not everything is like a movie, but he can’t help it. He’s comparing his situation to LA Confidential because it’s all about betrayal.

Bernie visits Jonathan to tell him the news about Davy. He talks about the first time he took Davy to Vegas a as a child. Being who he was, the rules didn’t apply. He made about $40 grand at the craps table. While he knew he should have said something, he couldn’t because at that moment, Davy was happy. Not that Jonathan would understand. They all did the best they could, but it wasn’t enough.

Bernie tells his father he’s letting his son go and breaks down sobbing in his arms.

Melanie wants to call an ambulance, but Sugar wants her to go to the drugstore to get him supplies. He asks her to call Henry, his friend who will know what to do. And then he passes out.

Sugar is awake when Henry arrives. They take Sugar to the bathroom, and he begins to work on Sugar, nut not before sending Melanie to the drug store. Henry has a bag of blood with the same logo as the party invitation.

Henry leaves Sugar in Melanie’s hands, but he wakes and leaves. He goes to see Ruby. He wants to know why she tipped off Stalligs. She says she can’t. She warned a trafficker about Sugar? She says she told Stallings to leave not hurt him. She doesn’t know where Charlie is. None of this was her decision. She can’t tell him. She won’t.

Stallings took Olivia for someone the organization is protecting. She says he has to stop looking for her. She’s allowed to tell him that much. They have to trust that this is for the greater good. It’s all for the mission. He says he’ll take the aspirin now, and she goes to the kitchen but goes upstairs instead. He looks the drawer. There is aspirin in the drawer.

He talks himself into taking a tiny little break just for the night, to go home. Going home is his term for drugs. He’s an alien.

Sugar: I don’t want violence.
Stallings: Five punches? In my book, violence is Manny shoots you in the knee while I stop you from wriggling around with my boot on your head so I can saw your arm off. I mean that’s, that’s violence.
Sugar: I understand you being drawn to it, I really do. I mean, that feeling of power. That’s not what I want, for me, for any of you. I just want Olivia back. Please, I just want to bring her home.
