As expected, the show concluded on the mother of all cliffhangers, but there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

Fresh off of surging almost 60 percent week-to-week in the demo, comes the news that ABC is in negotiations with Warner Bros. TV about bringing the show back for a sophomore run.

The news was first reported by . The website states that the chances of the show returning on ABC are 50/50.

Even with those odds, it's great to know that there's a chance the show could be cheating death.

Fans took to social media in their droves to bash ABC for ditching the Scott Foley and Lauren Cohan-led series.

But ending the series initially was “a very tough decision,” ABC entertainment chief Karey Burke told reporters following the cancellation.

“We felt like we gave it a very strong launch this spring and it had its chance to do what it could do… We looked for other time slots [for Whiskey Cavalier] but did not see a real opportunity to grow.”

The show did get a solid launching pad out of the Oscars earlier this year, but it failed to translate to decent live ratings.

Whiskey Cavalier averaged 3.3 million total viewers and a 0.6 rating in the Wednesdays at 10/9c slot.

However, the show was building 100 percent post-premiere in the demo and total viewers with seven days of DVR factored in.

These numbers do not include viewing on ABC's online portal or on Hulu, so it's possible that the show was killing it with those other metrics factored in.

What we do know is that Warner Bros. TV are desperately trying to seek a new home for the series if the negotiations fall through.

This should be a small glimmer of hope for fans who are looking for more episodes.
