The episode opens at an NYC fashion event where the established supermodel Nadine will walk the runway for the last time in her soon-to-be ex-husband Nick's show.

The model and designer bicker as a disreputable photographer, Ezra, arrives, much to the dismay of everyone at the event.

As attendees watch the models on the catwalk, Ezra is shot at point-blank range and killed.

Detective Donnelly and Officer Kaya, with Elsbeth in tow, interrogate the witnesses as the designer and model were both acquaintances of the deceased.

Back at the precinct, Wagner's anger over Elsbeth's investigation continues, and the captain is set on seeing Elsbeth removed from his department.

As the case of the fashion photographer continues, Elsbeth feels she has lost her mojo as she cannot gain any clues or hunches.

Nadine and Elsbeth begin to form a bond through questions about the case, which leads to Elsbeth meeting Matteo, a designer and former teacher of the deceased, Nick, and Nadine.

Inspired by Elsbeth's unique style, Matteo builds his entire new collection around Elsbeth.

After spending time with and questioning Matteo, Elsbeth is able to put the pieces of the case together and deduce that it was Matteo who shot the gun that killed Ezra.

At the precinct, Elsbeth is in the middle of saying goodbye to Kaya when Captain Wagner reveals that he's had a change of heart.

He had Lieutenant Noonan's office cleared out and Elsbeth's stuff placed in it, giving the Chicago attorney a permanent job in NYC.
