Supergirl Season 3 Episode 12 Review: For Good

at .

How has Lena not figured out that Kara is Supergirl yet?

No, scratch that, how has she not figured out that every person in her life has a secret identity yet?

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 12 needlessly reminded us how smart Lena is, from mentioning she's a chess prodigy to Lillian congratulating her on following her bread crumbs, yet she still hasn't figured it out?

Lena Hurt - Supergirl Season 3 Episode 12

How much longer can this go on before it's a legitimate insult to her intelligence?

First, obviously, there's the mounting evidence on Kara. She inexplicably disappears in the middle of the workday, often with no good excuse other than she's just following up on some story. That's not so far-fetched, reporters often spend time in the field, but Lena usually has no idea what she's doing out there.

But now she has had a "dream" that Kara flew her, that Kara just laughed off, but come on Lena, why would you dream that Kara was flying?

Throw in the fact that Kara was using her strength and powers more often as herself than as Supergirl and somehow no one noticed. James could conceivably delete security footage at CatCo, but what about at Morgan's party?

Do Kara's superpowers include being able to spot every camera on the premises so she can be sure to steer clear of them?

I wish we had gotten to see how Kara was going to explain Mon-El's return. That one could not have been easy.

Guardian is Back - Supergirl Season 3 Episode 12

Let's add in the fact that she has a second employee who disappears without any explanation, at least until now. Sam finally confided in Lena that she has blackouts and loses time, but there's still no medical reason for it.

Finally, Lena is dating Guardian. Cat figured out James was Guardian almost immediately, and Lena's involved in a relationship with him.

She is surrounded by people keeping secret identities from her, and she hasn't figured any of it out yet.

It's beyond frustrating at this point.

Lillian: Do you know of any other mother who would kill for her daughter?
Lena: No, I don't. That's probably a good thing for society.

And, oh yeah, her mother knows Kara is Supergirl and somehow hasn't spilled the beans yet.

Lillian's return was a surprise. I don't think "pleasant" is the right word for it, but she's a fun character, and it's always a treat when she pops up for a visit.

She has a severely twisted way of showing how much she loves her daughter.

Still, evil as she is, I was on Team Lillian for once. Morgan Edge is a waste of space, and it is time for him to go. I don't care who does it, but someone needs to kill him already.

Arresting him isn't going to hold him for long. He has too much money and fancy lawyers; he'll get out sooner rather than later.

This whole war between Morgan and Lena is tedious. There has to be a better way to incorporate Lena into the series than this. Here's an idea, maybe she learns the truth about her best friend? LCorp could be like a second DEO headquarters.

Destroying Lena - Supergirl

Alex and Sam are already borrowing their medical equipment.

It was no surprise the MRI came back negative, but was anyone else thinking the needle Alex put in Sam's arm wasn't going to penetrate the skin? I thought for sure Alex was about to discover the truth right there.

I love that she gave Sam a lollipop after she drew her blood. The all-powerful WorldKiller is afraid of needles, guys. Maybe Kara can use that next time she fights Reign.

Sam: So, I looked up my symptoms. Memory loss, headaches; it could be really bad. Like, brain tumor bad. ALS.
Alex: You know what else causes memory loss? Caffeine withdrawal. Yikes.

Okay, so I guess I didn't think the truth was going to come out just yet, but I'm ready for it. They're inching closer and closer to the big reveal, and I just can't wait to gauge Kara and Alex's reaction when it finally dawns on them.

It's going to be such a huge, devastating blow.

All that talk about the four of them being family, and also being Ruby's family, felt like foreshadowing. We know that Mon-El said that Reign leaves, which still has me believing that Sam lives, but didn't it feel like everyone was telling her that if something happens to her, they will take care of Ruby?

For ages, it's felt like Alex was going to end up pseudo-adopting her, and everything is pointing in that direction.

Sam should consider a will if she doesn't already have one and name Alex as Ruby's guardian.

Suspect Down - Supergirl Season 3 Episode 13

We finally got a Superman reference.

Winn knows where he is, and apparently, Zod is resurrected in the future, but neither of those pieces of information is particularly helpful. There is still no explanation as to why no one has bothered to ask him for help dealing with this whole WorldKiller situation, that's just getting worse by the way.

The Supergirl Round Table all came to the consensus that Kara would not find WorldKiller No. 2 before Reign, but it looks like they might be wrong.

Kara somehow managed to identify Julia from her picture, perhaps based on some sort of Kryptonian instinct. Will she get to her before Reign does? There's a decent chance, especially considering Reign was MIA.

What was up with that anyway?

Is Sam getting stronger or did Reign just decide to take a little breather from ridding the city of evil aliens? Coville was MIA too, so we have to wait longer to figure out why he suddenly switched sides.

All right, you guys have put up with my ranting, so now it's your turn. Is it time for Lena to learn the truth?

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 12 Quotes

Sam: So, I looked up my symptoms. Memory loss, headaches; it could be really bad. Like, brain tumor bad. ALS.
Alex: You know what else causes memory loss? Caffeine withdrawal. Yikes.

Morgan: My lawyers could bury you alive for defamation of character.
Lena: I don't know; don't you have to have a character to defame?
Morgan: And the pot calls the kettle black.
