Rebecca's father
Sorry about that. To be honest, I've never had lobster. It kind of got the best of me. My family doesn't do much, to answer your question, ma'am. Mostly they fight. He hits, she cries. I had a little brother, basically raised him myself. When he was little, he had this two year phase where he was convinced there was a monster living in his closet. I couldn't convince him there was no monster so instead I'd sit in front of the closet door and tell him stories. I'd tell him bedtime stories until Nicky was convinced the monster went to sleep and wasn't going to bother him anymore. Of course the monster wasn't real, but my brother's fear was real. The sweat on his brow was real. His experience was real. I lost my brother in Vietnam.
Jack
My mom's tough, I'm not gonna lie, but my dad saves all. And I told them under no circumstances are they to bring up Vietnam.
Rebecca
Jack: I just got back from Nam and I haven't found a job yet.
Miguel: Right. Somehow my number didn't get called. Crazy ,right? A Puerto Rican whose number didn't get called. Whoever heard of such a thing?
Jack: I've been here a couple times, but not for breakfast. Describe it to me?
Lucy: The place? It's one of those diners that will never change. It's not what I would open. I'm a chef or want to be a chef. But it's warm, you know? The food is warm, the people are warm, the place is warm even when it's super cold out.
[Jack and Rebecca kiss]
Rebecca: I'm not calling you first.
Jack: I'm not calling YOU first.
Rebecca: How long have I been out?
Jack: Just a few minutes.
Rebecca: Great third date. Isn't it crazy? A few weeks ago I was in a bar looking at a cute guy -- not you, you came later. But isn't it weird how meeting someone can change everything?
